Apple Crisp

10 cups apples (peeled and sliced)
¼ cup lemon juice
3 tbsp lemon zest
¾ cup sugar
1 ½ cups brown sugar
1 ½ cups oats
1 ¼ cups flour
¾ cups butter
1 tbsp cinnamon
1 tsp nutmeg
1 tsp cardamom
Mix apples, lemon juice, 1 tbsp, lemon zest, and sugar.
Spread apple mixture in a 12 inch Dutch oven.
Mix brown sugar, oats, flour, butter, lemon zest, cinnamon, nutmeg, and cardamom in a bowl.
Spread topping mixture onto apples in Dutch oven.
Use 8 coals under and 16 coals on top. Bake at 350 degrees for 25 to 30 minutes.
Rotate every 10 minutes.
Continue baking until apples are cooked and topping is brown.
Serve warm with ice cream or whipped cream.
Makes 8 to 10 servings.
